Jill
This is our sweet girl Jill. About 10 years ago a young man called and said there was a dog living at a camp site that was in really bad shape. When he got here she was nothing but sores, no hair at all and all bones. We didn't think she would make it through the night. The next morning when we got to the clinic we found Jill had a fungus infection and a horrible bacterial skin infection. She also had allergies, thyroid issues and a heart murmur all at about 3 years old. Sweet Jill has been on five different medications since she got here. Always a wonderful girl she has made my life better. Last month when she went in for her dental they found a growth in her stomach area. Last Monday she went in for surgery to have it removed. Today Angie called with the lab results, our sweet Jill has an aggressive cancer. Jill has a 27% chance of living a year and no chance of making 2 years. My heart is broken, seems like all I do is cry. If the people who first had Jill would have spayed her this would not have happened. Please always get your girls spayed before the first heat, it matters.

Mosley
I remember when Jaxie Bastin Heppner called to let us know she had chosen us to be Nicholas (now Mr. Moseley)'s family. She mentioned that he had "stumpy legs" and that she wasn't sure he'd ever be able to jump up on the furniture like other dogs.
Cut to nine years later when, despite his proportions, he still launches high over the jumps during his agility class and attacks all the obstacles without fear. Hope you enjoy these photos of him in action!

Ellie mae
2 months ago today we picked up this baby girl and fell in love! Ellie May (Charlotte) loves to run, go to the beach, go out to dinner and learn new tricks. She is so smart and is always thanking us for her adoption. We are forever grateful to Jaxie Bastin Heppner and pray for placement for all those in her care!

Paul and jill santos
Our very own Paul and Jill Santos have found their sweet Remy. This is their 4th adoption from us. Reid and Randy they adopted many years ago were both 2 babies that came to us with their Mom Henrietta that just passed from cancer Tuesday They also later adopted Reggie, he is the youngest Dachshund and will probably be baby Remy's new play buddy!

Quill
Yesterday was Quill's SIXTEENTH birthday, and last week was our 14th adoption anniversary. He is doing pretty well but definitely showing his age, and suffering from a few different medical issues. Please include him in your doggy wishes and prayers! He has been such a special, indelible, absolutely unique part of my life for so long and I am grateful every day that Jaxie let me bring him home all those years ago.

Santino
Ahhhhh what a day!!!! First, Thank you Jaxie Bastin Heppner, Jackie Zbuska and Sue Schaeffer Zbuska and everyone involved for literally jumping into action for “Leo”. All of your descriptions of him are spot on.
We are leaving the name “Leo” behind him with his bumpy start and giving him an Italian name of Santino. Santino in Italian means “Little saint; sacred”. We all know he has been a saint through this all. And what the heck, there is St Joseph’s Day and St Valentine’s Day coming up soon too.

Lucia lulu
It's a week now since we picked up Lucia Lulu for short aka Tiny Tot. We named her after the Patron Saint of blindness. We hope to bless her the rest of her life. Lethal whites come with different degrees of blindness and deafness. This Lil one has no sight and we are pretty sure deaf. In a week she has made such progress, using a wee wee pad and hopefully when it defrosts we will get her outside to do her business. She has started to roam around my kitchen and den which when you're just under 4 lbs. must seem like a big space. Today she ate like a little piggy, which made me happy. She loves a good brushing, thank goodness. Pom hair is a job.. Stevie who is also a lethal white is very accepting of her and Lily has surprisingly become her Buddie. 2 princesses .
Since Stevie has minimal hearing loss and I got him at 4 months he was easier to train. We use bells and ramps for him and you wouldn't know he is blind except for the occasion bang.
I'm reading about training a blind and deaf pup and hoping to learn the tap system after she is settled more.
If anyone has done, please throw me tips.
Please consider when adopting a handicapped dog. The rewards outweigh the extra work and your saving a pet that really needs just love and some extra attention.
When I read online how many breeder put down lethal whites born blind and deaf because they are unsellable and many feel they have no quality of life I'm here to tell you it may not be the easiest life but when I get kisses and tail wagging it's not true.

Randy and reid
We adopted Randy (black pup) almost 5 years ago from Beebe's and Reid at the end of 2019. They are from the same litter. So glad I recognized Reid (aka Buster) when I was looking through Adopt A Pet. Jaxie confirmed they were from the same litter and we also had a DNA test done. They are best friends and we love them more than anything!

Lucy
Two years ago today we found Lucy on the Beebe site and adopted her. It will be her Gotcha Day on the 23rd, but the first pic showed up in my memories today. It was her adoption picture. She had many applicants and we were honored to have been chosen. Lucy loves her life with Mike and I and big brother Ziggy and Peanut the cat.
